CD ReviewsVery nice collection of hard to find Eliza songs R. Kyle | USA | 07/05/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "I've been an Eliza fan since I first heard her sing "Hard Times in Babylon" and I thought I had every album she'd done. "Retrospecto" is an excellent collection of hard to find songs. What drew me to the CD was "Wild Horse" which also appears on a Putumayo CD "Women's Work." When I realized there were 19 other songs here, I grabbed the collection. I'm quite pleased.
Favorites include: Wild Horse--luminous, you can almost see the wild horse of the singer's dreams Buffalo Gals--great fun cowgirl song Her Melancholy Muse--beautiful piano This is maybe not the best introduction to Eliza. I'd think about "Hard Times in Babylon," "Beautiful World" or perhaps "Land of Milk and Honey", but this is still a great CD if you know her work and love her voice. Rebecca Kyle, July 2009" |
