Synopsis

Product Description
El Bestial Sonido is possibly the very best album in the catalogue of Ricardo Ray and Bobby Cruz. It is a must-have for fans of Los Durisimos. What is truly indisputable is that the most astounding lineup of the Richie Ray Orchestra was the very one that recorded El Bestial Sonido in 1971. El Bestial Sonido de Ricardo Ray & Bobby Cruz is a classic because of the orchestra's masterful and irresistible interpretations, Bobby Cruz and Miki Vimari's vocals, and the band's successful repertoire, which was certainly one of the most stimulating and perfectly balanced of all time.

It was this musical success that consecrated Richie as the most multifaceted pianist, arranger, composer, and orchestra director of his genre. You only need to hear the first bar of 'Sonido Bestial' to appreciate Richie's savvy in creating a tapestry of rhythms combining the jala-jala, guaguanco, jazz, and classical music in a solo with ingenious variations. No collection is complete without this seminal work of art.

CD Reviews

A Bestial sound!!!

"Here you will find richie ray's most recongnized hit of all his career: "SONIDO BESTIAL".

For a lot of salsa music experts SONIDO BESTIAL (the song) is the best composition in the history of salsa, in it you will hear classic music, latin jazz, the historical timpani solo of Charlie "el pirata" Cotto and the incredible vituosism of Ricardo Ray at Piano. The trumpets here turn very aggressive.

The song "Señora" of Joan Manuel Serrat is also a hit.

In this CD you'll find one of the first lyrics of Ruben Blades (still not famous at that time)called "Guaguanco Triste"."
