A unique pairing of the very familiar Grieg piano concerto with the more esoteric Szymanowski work, which is actually a hybrid of symphony and piano concerto. Pianist Alfredo Perl, born 1965 in Santiago, Chile, has performed regularly at important venues in Europe, South America, Asia, and the US. Perl is a prizewinner at major international competitions, and has recorded extensively for Arte Nova. The Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, which has been in existence since 1845, was remolded into the form it has today thanks to public funding made available in 1980. Since the 1994 season, Adrian Leaper has been Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the orchestra.
