It's Dvorak's centennial & we'll be hearing the Ninth Symphony a lot this year, but this interpretation is still fresh and rewarding. Although the barebones is still there, this is a radical reworking by Dvorak that allows the pianists plenty of room for creativity. These transcriptions were popular in the days before radio & recordings, allowing the public to hear a big piece of music without the expense of hiring an orchestra, & unlike Liszt, Dvorak gives us the whole piece, nearly 42 minutes long!A great recording, beautiful playing, one of the most popular orchestral works of the late 19th century created anew, who could ask for more?"
