If You Don't Like This Album, You Don't Like Good Punk Rock!

"You Wanna Listen to the best punk in the world? Well, this album is a great choice...maybe the best one. These four Donnas...Allison Robertson (guitar), Brett Anderson (vocals), Maya Ford (bass), and Jerry Castellano (drums) made an excellent album...there's so great fast and good punk music. All the songs are very good and have very rebellious lyrics. Before this album I had only heard the album "Spend the Night" and "Gold Medal". Then I found this...and guys and girls...I fell in love with it! The songs "Skintight", "Hyperactive", "Hook It Up", "Party Action", "Zero", "Well Done" are excellent examples how great and upbeat can the punk music be. These girls have excellent voices...Donna A. is the lead vocalist but others are in backing vocals. I simply love this album...it sounds so new and fresh. All the songs are great and I wouldn't leave a single one out of this album. If you consider to buy somethin' made by The Donnas, choose this one or "Spend the Night"....or both. Then if you have a Donna fever...I recommend "American Teenage Rock 'n' Roll Machine" and "Turn 21"...then other Donnas' albums.

Stars: Skintight, I Didn't Like You Anyway, Hyperactive"
Donnas - 'Get Skintight' (Lookout)

"Review no.59. Truly outstanding, WAY above average full-throttled all girl rock 'n roll. Every cut here kicks total *ss, but just a few I thought I'd mention are "You Don't Wanna Call", the rocking "Doin' Donuts", "Searching Through The Streets" and "I Didn't Like You Anyway". Fans of the Runaways, early Go-Go's, Ramones and maybe Blondie will be wetting their under garments over this one. Buy two copies of this CD in case you wear the first one out. Highly recommended."

"In recent years, it is common for a strapping young lad, like myself, to proclaim that they were keenly fond of a certain band "before they became famous". When said strapping young lad utters those words, it is often followed by the dreaded "but then they sold out". This is not true for the Donnas. I became aware of these four bratty vixens either in 2000 or 2001. The album was "...Get Skintight", and the location was my car. My friend popped in a borrowed CD of the album, and we listened to it until dawn was cracking. I will admit, at first I didn't think that there was anything special about the album. The second time I listened to it, I said, "Wow, this is actually catchy." The third time I listened to it, I said, "I could totally worship this." And I did. From that day forward, I put my eardrums on a strict diet of the Donnas, 24/7. Shortly after, the Donnas were adorning their angsty (but still purrrty) faces on most every music magazine imaginable. Yes, it is true, I did like the Donnas before mainstream success, but I did not burden my listening pleasures with the epithet of "selling out". In fact, if any band should be successful, why, I couldn't imagine any other band to do it better than that skintight quad everyone's talking about."
