An Overlooked Jazz Masterpiece

"If you think Ellington has the right idea in using a Jazz Orchestra and a piano to make great American Music, you owe it to yourself to buy this album.Garry Dial is a brilliant Jazz player and from the opening composition, he creates fantastic, optomistic, American brass jazz. He and Mr. Oatts are smart guys and they know how to balance their use of the brass section to present a theme against their individual improvisations. This is a big event CD. A graduation CD, an important first date CD. It is also evocative of the 40s efforts to get jazz into the minds of classical music fans. It's a cd that deserves your attention."
