CD Reviews

Doing Just Fine

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Destiny's Child's new single "Survivor" is great, especially the orchestrial intro into the song. This is the Australian release of the single. In total, there are four tracks. The tracklisting are: 1. Survivor (Album Version) 2. So Good (Maurice's Soul Remix) 3. So Good (Digital Black -N- Groove Club Mix) 4. Independent Women Part I (Joe Smooth 200 Proof 2 Step Mix)The best track is without a doubt "Survivor". The two remixes of "So Good" are okay except the dance beats and Beyonce's high notes don't match too well together therefore hearing these two remixes over and over again can make it annoying. However, the remix of "Independent Women Part I" is just terrible. The girls are already singing at the speed of light and the extremely fast beats makes the song sound like you are trying to listen to the song but someone is fastforwarding it therefore the end result is that you can't hear the lyrics too clearly and before you know it, the song has finished. Overall, the CD is value for money but the remixes don't live up to usual DC standards. Grab it if you are a hard core DC fan, think twice about it if you are just wondering about getting it."
Probably One Of DC's Best Singles

"Okay, this is my favourite of DC's singles and I have quite a few...
1. Survivor (3:58) - Okay, this is the song on radio & on the album. If you're looking at buying this single you probably know this song so i don't need to review it.2. So Good (Maurice's Soul Remix) (7:35) - When I first heard this, I didn't like it much. But it kept growing on me and now it's one of my fave remixes. They resung 'So Good' and then slowed down the vocals for this. It is in the same genre as the Maurice's remixes of "Say My Name" & "Jumpin' Jumpin'" - a mix of club and soul.3. So Good (Digital Black -N- Groove Club Mix) (4:11) - The same vocals as track 2 but not as good. I find that Digital Black -N- Groove's work on this and their remix of 'Survivor' wasn't all that good. At first I liked it better than Track 2 but not now. It's an okay dance mix - maybe 3 1/2 stars.4. Independent Women Part I (Joe Smooth 200 Proof Step Mix) (4:17) - This is the best track in my opinion. They've sped up their vocals a lot (which isn't too common for DC) and made it into a garage/2-step mix. If you like that sort of thing, this is the best garage/2-step track I've ever heard. I love it.Overall, a great single - the 'So Good' mixes are great and hard to find as is the 'Independent Women' remix. If you want 'Survivor' mixes, check out the US maxi - it's got the best remixes of 'Survivor' around."
