CD Reviews

Love this band

"I am a music major, and a Christian. If you want high quality christian music, this is the band to get, and this is one of my favorite cds of theirs. DMHO is a Christian big band: trumpets, saxophones, trombones, keyboard, guitar, drums, and Denver, on lead vocals, also solos on trumpet. I saw them in concert last year with my parents and figured they were just a sappy, run-of-the-mill christian group that my mom liked, like the kind that you hear on the radio all the time. Let me tell you, I was blown away by their professionalism, talent, and love of God. The quality of the musicianship made it one of the best concerts I've seen.

Their lyrics are solidly based on Christianity, and yet they're original and thought-provoking, which is often hard to find in contemporary Christian music. My favorite thing they do is to transform a hymn into a big-band piece, usually one per cd. Blessed Assurance is on this album, previous albums have Solid Rock and It Is Well With My Soul. I play the organ, and hymns will always have a special place in my heart, and I just love what they've done with them.

If you want to learn about them, I strongly encourage you to visit their website or go see them in concert. I also recommend any of their albums. You can't go wrong with anything that DMHO has put out-- it's all fantastic."

"You cannot listen to this CD without a lot of moving around! Makes me wish I knew how to do all the old swing dances. Amazing song arrangements in the big band/swing style. This album is my favorite!"
