This CD really represents a new era in American composition. The music is alive, vital and refreshing.

David Chesky has his own sound and proves himself to be a master orchestration as well. He takes rhythms from popular forms, such as Jazz and Latin, and is clever enough to make it work in a symphonic setting.

The performances are fist rate from conductor Gergov and the Swedish orchestra. Derwinger rips into the Piano concerto with high energy and precise playing and Martin Kuuskmann takes the bassoon to a new level with his performance of the Bassoon Concerto.

Highly recommended for people that want to be a little challenged but not yet turned off by modern music. This SACD is a welcome addition to the classical repertoire. I would like to hear more from David Chesky."
