CD Reviews

Perfect lounge/cocktail party Xmas music
Lisa K. Mayfield | Anchorage, AK United States | 01/08/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Love it! In fact I think I heard one of the tracks on a recent commercial on TV. There are some lovely modernizations of traditional tunes that give a new feel to the song, but does not lose it...in other words, you can still tell what carol/song it came from."
+1/2 stars. Meh. It's okay...

"...for a euro-trash retail store X-Mas soundtrack. Not trying to sound overly-harsh; when you hear it you'll know what I mean. And not that this is always a bad thing either, but this is definitely not something that would appeal to all Arkenstone fans. Hey, who am I to tell you what you'll like. Give it a listen; you may like it if you're into some urban sounds, and perhaps like some light jazz. Reminds me of stuff you'll find on XM's Watercolors station. Some will love it, some will hate it. Some will like me will find it marginally tolerable, yet somehow still interesting enough to keep your finger off the "stop" button, and closer to the "skip" button.

Not my cup 'o tea, but thank goodness Arkenstone has other more traditional Christmas discs. Still, I give the guy lots of credit for trying something new. ;-)"
