Worth The Extra Money for DVD...
Drew | Your Basement | 11/07/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I bought this CD rather blindly. I had only heard a few of Dashboard's songs... pretty impressed, I must say. Then, I saw the DVD version in the store, and it had Dashboard, covering R.E.M.'s Automatic for The People, with Michael Stipe on the DVD. Unrefuseable offer.

So I get in the car. I listened to it, stunned. It was just fantastic, and it's one of my favorite albums. There are only a few albums I can listen to the whole way through, and this is one of them.

When I got home, I watched the DVD. I was amazed yet again with how talented Carraba and the band actually were at covering another band, especially such a great one. And then, at the end, Stipe covered Hands Down, and sings with Carraba, and it's well... pretty freakin' sweet. So five stars. Most Definitely. Hands Down."
Would give 6 stars if I could

"I'm not gonna drag on and on about how big a fan of Dashboard Confessional and R.E.M. I am.
But honestly, this is probably the best CD I've bought this year. It's the usual verison of the album with a beautiful removable cardboard cover around it and a bonus DVD. The DVD features the whole 40 minute MTV2 "Album Covers: R.E.M.'s Automatic For The People" show (all 8 songs with intro to endcredits) plus 2 unaired songs ("Superman", which was played over the endcredits and "Rapid Hope Loss") and interviews. DC's "Hands Down" sung by Michael Stipe is just beautiful.
Hint: There are two hidden videos you can access by clicking down-enter and down-right-enter at the bottom of the "bonus features" menu."
