CD ReviewsSolti doesn't fall flat, but his soloists do Santa Fe Listener | Santa Fe, NM USA | 09/24/2005 (3 out of 5 stars) "Helped by the glorious Concertgebouw orchestra and excellent Decca sound, Solti tries his best not to bulldoze Das Lied. He gives a decent, if not exceptinal reading, but what can he do with second-rate soloists, in particular a tenor who struggles and sinks under the weight of an impossible part and an Eastern European mezzo who doesn't really seem to know what the words mean? A good effort doomed from the start."
