"While neither performance would be my numero uno pick, both come fairly close. I love both of these works; combined with Delos' usual outstanding sonics, one could do far, far worse. My favorite "Planets" remain Boult's final LPO one (1979, EMI); Previn/LSO (EMI), and Levi/Atlanta S.O. (Telarc). But Litton runs them close. Same holds for "Zarathustra". There, my favorites would include Bohm/BPO; Karajan/BPO; Steinberg/Boston (also coupled with The Planets, by the way) - all on DG. But again, Litton runs them close, and with generally better sound quality."
