"... the next release by Cut Copy will be a full on rock album which is unfortunate, because Cut Copy are not good rockers. They end up sounding like New Order/Cure wannabes which is also unfortunate because I like New Order and The Cure. I say this because a few tracks on In Ghost Colours sound like New Order/Cure tracks but in a cover band at a seedy bar kind of way which isn't good.

Take "Going Nowhere", "The Twilight" or "Bright Neon Payphone", the only three rock tracks on their brilliant debut album Bright Like Neon Love and you pretty much have the feel of ...Colours which, in my opinion, is a disappointing sophomore release.

Cut Copy are at their best when they do downtempo electronica infused with the slightest whisper of rock and layered with hypnotic repetitous lyrics like on "A Dream", the hauntingly beautiful closer on ...Neon Love. Well, don't expect to get that here.

These guys are trying to be songwriting rockers instead of at least pumping out a second disc of downtempo electronica before branching out. At least I have the first album to enjoy but ...Colours is a disappointing clunker with only a handful of tracks that deliver what made me a fan in the first place.
