CD Reviews

Good single with three previously unreleased bonus tracks
Wayne Klein | My Little Blue Window, USA | 08/01/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

""Don't Stop Now" is a terrific single but what really makes this essential for Crowdies are the three bonus tracks included here. I purchased the CD single to add in the two bonus tracks included here that were released on the 2 disc vinyl edition.

Both clearly were strong contenders for the album but of all the songs Neil could have cut, these were probably the best to take off the CD release (of course I don't understand WHY they didn't leave them on there as the CD runs under 70 minutes even with them included). "Lost Island" is the best of the two new songs included here although the high octane rocker "Stare Me Down" is also quite good and provided a nice break on an album that had a lot of midtempo ballads. "Stare Me Down" has a nice Stones-like groove and horns that echo R&B adding a different distinctive flavor to an already rich album. A pity it wasn't included on the full CD.

We also get a live version of "Mean to Me" recorded at Real World Studios from the band's internet broadcast at the beginning of the summer."
Don't make my mistake
William G. Braatz | 07/14/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I made the mistake of thinking I was getting the cd with the fours songs, but got the one with only two. Do yourself a favor and get the one with four for the extra $3.OO I don't see the point of the one with only two. I love the new tunes(I got the cd also) Don't make my mistake!"
