Barry Wordsworth is one of Britain's most popular conductors. Regarded as one of the world's leading ballet conductors, he has held the post of Music Director of the Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet as well as Principal Conductor of the BBC Orchestra (1989-2006) and the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra (1989-present). He regularly works with the major London orchestras, and is a regular guest conductor of the regional orchestras in the UK. In the United Kingdom, Wordsworth made his first televised appearance at the BBC Proms in 1989 and has conducted frequently since. He made his debut at the Royal Opera in the 1990/91 season with a new production of Carmen and he was immediately invited to conduct a new production of Don Giovanni. He continues to appear with all the leading British orchestras.
