Edwin Barker, principal double bassist of the Boston Symphony for the last two decades, is unquestionably one of the world's greatest bass virtuosos. Here he is featured in two concertos specifically written for him (by Gunther Schuller and Theodore Antoniou), an early classical concerto, and a hilarious tour de force by Tom Johnson, in which Barker narrates and plays the bass simultaneously.
