Synopsis

Product Description
"The ASQ can take considerable credit from these superb interpretations. Their dedication and insight has paid off as this set is one of the very finest available. This Foghorn set is unquestionably one of my `Records of the Year' for 2009." -- Musicweb-International These stunning recordings, made in just 19 days in 2008 at New York City's famed American Academy of Arts and Letters, constitute a splendid contemporary survey of this indispensable cycle. The packaging is gorgeous, the exceptional liner notes by Eric Bromberger are wonderfully insightful, and the production by multiple Grammy Award winner Judith Sherman is flawless. The respective voices are exquisitely exposed & supported, and always balanced to perfection. Pathos, humor, and agony are expressed without reserve and these uniquely vital, loving, and essential interpretations constitute a landmark accomplishment for this splendid ensemble.

CD Reviews

"Best beethoven string quartet recording ever"
cindychay | United state | 06/22/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"As quartet playing, this recording is almost perfect; the Guarneri even conquer the superhuman hurdles posed by the Grosse Fuge. The Guarneri surely rank among the finest [string quartets] now before the public. Excellent presence and definition."
