Synopsis

Album Description
This brand new studio album from Sir Cliff is easily his best work from the last fifteen to twenty years. From the sublime title track to the host of other top-notch tunes included, it marks Cliff out as one of Britain?s elder statesman of quality music. This is his first album for Decca, after 40 years with EMI and a brief flirtation with an indie label, and looks like being the comeback album of the year. 2004.

CD Reviews

Cliff Never Let's You Down!!
Jesse Tibbits | Bull Shoals, AR United States | 01/30/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"As the most constant reviewer of Cliff Richard recordings on Amazon I felt I should tackle this one as well. Just as I felt about his 1998 CD... Real As I wanna Be, I'm blown away by Cliff's never ending desire to keep current! He pulls it off everytime. I don't know of ANY other pop/rock star from the 1950's that still records current sounding music, If any new recordings at all. Cliff's voice is more powerful than ever at the tender age of 64!! One of the greatest things about cliff is he surrounds himself with great writers and players that let him shine and stay fresh and new. At his age most performers play or sing music from the generation they came from and sound dated because of it. Cliff could have sung nothing but his 1950's or 1960's hits 20 years ago!! He never rested on his past at all and I feel he never will. Any new CD will be worth buying including this one at any price. Stand out tracks for me are the following.

1)HOW DID SHE GET HERE

Such a moving song about leaving a love behind but still can't get it off your mind.

2)CANNOT GIVE YOU MY LOVE

Written by the great Barry Gibb, recorded in his studio and also sang back up vocals.

3)FOR LIFE

A great love song to play to that special someone and have a cry, a happy sort of cry!

4)FAITHFUL ONE

One of Cliff's best christian tracks since the 1982 Lp, Now You See Me... Now You Don't.

5)FIELD OF LOVE

Did not like this one at first but give it a listen a few times and it will grow on you. A very cool backbeat!

Cliff Keeps Getting Better
Long-Time Fan | Chattanooga, TN USA | 12/09/2004

"Cliff Richard once again proves that he is one of the top male vocalists in the world. Glad to see "real" instruments--as opposed to the techno stuff--has been utilized by his Nashville producers. His driving, country/rock vocals are his strength on this album with cuts "Thousand Miles to Go," "Sometimes Love," and "What Car," but slower cuts "Simplicity," "I Cannot Give You My Love," and "Faithful One are outstanding. Cliff's record company, however, does him a disservice. "Something's Going On," the first single of the CD, is perhaps the weakest cut. Listening to this song does nothing to encourage non-die-hard-Cliff fans to purchase the CD. There is no reason why "Thousand Miles to Go" couldn't compete on both the country and pop charts in America. Perhaps the enormous success in the States that Cliff so richly deserves has been a marketing failure. This fan certainly thinks so!!

Cliff Keeps On Going!

"Cliff Richard is into his fifth decade now as a performer and to hear this album, you would imagine that even Mr. Richard is surprised. It is a true masterpiece with (13) songs that are all vibrant and strong. Usually acts this old lose their appeal or keep on coming and Cliff Richard delivers a rich mix of songs. "Something's Goin' On" is a worthy single in a world that ignores singles. If you can get the single, the B-Side is a wonderful ditty called, "How Many Sleeps". It's just nice to hear an album that is generous in mood, variety and perfect in quality for the modern listener. This album is a keeper."
