Baglioni's first album
09/07/1998
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The first album of Baglioni's almost three decades presence on the music scene, it already shows the great promise of a great musician. This album broke free from the early 70's Italian musical tradition because of its being a sung story: the author's first love narrated in melody. A main theme runs throughout the whole album, with the songs fading one into the other as Baglioni describes the first encounter, first kiss and final loss. The titles are: 1. Piazza del popolo, 2. Una faccia pulita, 3. Battibecco,4. Con tutto l'amore che posso, 5. Che begli amici!, 6. Mia liberta', 7. La prima volta, 8. Quel giorno, 9. Io ti prendo come mia sposa, 10. Cartolina rosa, 11. Questo piccolo grande amore, 12. Porta portese, 13. Quanto ti voglio, 14. Sembra il primo giorno, 15. Con tutto l'amore che posso (finale)."
Puts the listener right back to a cafe in Rome circa 1970

(5 out of 5 stars)

"The first time I heard these tunes on a juke box in Rome, I knew that Claudio was the man. Each of the songs on this romantic collection has its own personality, but they form a cohesive unit which is pure romance. The music will make you start to sing in Italian...even if you don't speak a word of it!"
A Romantic Movie In Sound
Stormy Hunter | Encinitas, California USA | 05/15/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I received the LP version of this unique album back in the 70's as a gift from someone who brought it back from Italy. It wasn't just Claudio Baglioni's powerful, romantic singing that grabbed me - it was the way the album is produced. It has a very cinematic - even operatic feel, with recurring themes, songs fading from one to the next, spoken voices, sound effects, etc. The closing "Con Tutto L'amore Che Posso" sounds like music for a final credit roll. At the time, I didn't understand much Italian but I played this album endlessly, simply letting the music wash over me and creating my own movie in my head to go with the lush and beautiful songs. They don't make records like this anymore; this was a hell of a debut album!"
