CD Reviews

Pretty much something for all the Clannad fans...

"Celtic Collection is a fine mix of a very broad range of Clannad's repertoire. From the modern frenetic intensity of "A Mhuirnín Ó", to the peace of "Coinleach Glas An Fhómhair", there really is something for everyone here. Most of the music here is from Clannad's later, more "modern" releases. If you've found Clannad from the "new age" and modern element, this CD will most probably be to your liking thanks to tracks such as "A Mhuirnín Ó" and "Thiós Fá'n Chósta", the latter with a subtle, bluesy intensity which makes it intensely memorable. Fans of the Celtic element need not be disappointed either, with "Buachaill On Eirne" and "Alasdair MacColla" providing a well-needed balance. For the Clannad neophyte, this CD, along with the compilation "An Díolaim", provides a comprehensive précis of the group's work."
Good budget collection.

"Normaly I am against the endless stream of Clannad reissues that BMG on both sides of the Atlantic churn out (seems they do that to all their artists). But this one is a great collection for the casual fan. Since they maintained the same record company in Europe, unlike here when they switched to Atlantic, this cd is able to cover a good sample of the 80's and even more new age 90's. The amount of songs, the mix from a good chunk of the history (leaving out the folkier days) and the good price make this a good compilation to get. Not really the essential Clannad, but a good place to start."
