CD Reviews

Brilliant

"Crowell, Smith and company turn in a terrific mix of pop music. "We Want Everything" comes as close as anything I've heard to capturing the pain and bewilderment after a loved one's suicide. "When Losers Rule The World" and "Blonde Ambition" are smart, funny songs about life, while the cover of the Nashville Teens' "Tobacco Road" is a nice suprise. "Learning To Fly" is about the nicest statement of purpose I've heard in a long, long time. You really need this CD in your collection."

"Rodney Crowell does it again. Pop infused sounds of rock/country/roots that are very inviting. "When Losers Rule the World" is one of my all-time favorite songs. "We Want Everything" is another gem on this platter. "Wish You Were Her" is slick and flawless, but manages to keep itself firmly on the edge of pop country/rock. The only song that I question is "Blonde Ambition." It just doesn't fit the rest of these tracks. It sounds like something that Steve Wariner and Garth Brooks would do a duet on. Still, this is a very solid album, and for those of you who like your country with a little folksy/Beatles-ish rock, get this disc. Also, if your rock is geared more toward the Jayhawks, you might want to check this out."

"This album is incredible!! Rodney and Vince have incredible voices and the songwriting is superb. "When Losers Rule The World" is the best song I've heard in a long, long time. Also love "Tobacco Road", "Nothing", and "Nobody's Gonna Tear My Playhouse Down". Recommend picking this album up while it's still available!!!"
