CD Reviews

Chronic Future is awesome!!!!

"I have known about this band for about 8 yrs now. Chronic Future had a hit on the radio here in Arizona back in '96/'97, when the bandmembers were only 13 and 14 yrs old. I thought they were pretty cool. I gave them credit for doing there thing at such a young age. But Now its 2004 and the band members are all grown up, and they have improved so much, its amazing! After hearing 'Lines In My Face' I really did fall in love with this band. This album is awesome!!!! Songs like 'Shellshocked', 'Thank You', and 'Say Goodbye' are just amazing beautiful music. There is no bad song on the record. I guess you can put the 'rap/rock' label on Chronic Future, but don't let that scare you away. They still manage to have their own unique sound. And they have been doing there thing before 'rap/rock' even was mainstream.
Go out and buy "Lines In My Face"!!!!! Chronic Future RULES!!"
A formulaic album....but it still works??!

"Chronic future = the best of pop-punk, modern rock, and rap/rock all in one package.

When I saw the video for time and time again, the video and the song itself had an amazing social message, along with a rap/rock style I had never heard before. I had to check out this bands website. 2 days later, I bought this CD and even though it sounds like a formulaic pop-punk/rock type album, it is still a bold enough CD coming from a band bold enough to finally to do something a bit different.

This group and Linkin Park seem to be the only rock bands out there that really push to blend branches of rap and modern rock together, but they are not a cliche type of rap/rock, they are finally different. A cliche version of rap/rock would be something like Limp Bizkit, which this band (or linkin park for that matter) are not. Yes, you cannot compare them 100% to LP but both bands have the same idea of how they blend music. This group sounds like a pop-rock/modern rock band like Simple Plan, at first kind of formulaic. But then you hear the lead vocalist rap and you think WHAT IS THIS? It's finally a bold type of rap/rock, and amazing songs like "time and time again," "stop pretending," and "New York, NY," are 3 tracks on this CD that show why. If it weren't for the Time and Time again as their single, I probably wouldnt have looked into them much b/c I would have thought that they are a cliche type of band. They may be on a major record label, but they are far from formulaic, even though they can trick you to think it is. Every song packs the energy of a single, which is very hard to find in an album.

Also, if you don't believe me that these guys are truly talented, go on chronic future's website, and look for the pop up showcasing their old EP. The lead rapper shines on 2 songs, not on this current CD, "jumping ship," and "lines in my face."

The lead rapper, whoever he is, has his own style of underground rapping in those 2 songs, it is amazing."

"I hate how everyone just bags on talented Musicians. ok i had to get that out. I bought this cd When i heard time and time again on MVP Baseball 2004 and then i saw them in concert here in Arizona were they are from and let me tell you.. These guys are energetic as you can get. They put on such a good show that put chills down my back. Now I give the cd a 4 because most of the cd has good upbeat songs that are catchy and are fun to listen too. some of my favorites are shellshocked, Stop pretending, and Static on the Radio. Im a fan of Hawthorne Heights and more emo/screamo sound but i alos like old punk like Rancid, Lagwagon, Bouncing Souls and more but Chronic Future has a unique sound that i just like. Dont rag on these guys they work their asses off to get to were they are now and they are definately bringing in more money than u guys that rag on them. ok i recomend people to go buy this cd"
