WHY ARE YOU REMIXING "HURT"?
One World | Denver, CO USA | 04/04/2007
(2 out of 5 stars)

"That is the question I wondered when I saw this in the store! With the punch "Ain't No Other Man" packed and it to not make it out on a US released cd single but yet "Hurt" is a mystery!

"Hurt" is a heart-felt sad ballad full of grief and regret - hardly something to go dancing over. I suppose if the remixes possibly could retain the intensity of the sadness contained in the lyrics of this song, they could give creedance to the 80's new wave song "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes"! I heard one version playing and it did not work, it was just a remix for the sake of being such, and with so much other material available that lends itself well to a remix, "Hurt" should have not been messed with as it becomes lost in the shuffle and will hardly be a memorable remix. Now having said that regarding making this song into a dance version, there is a remix that works somewhat - thus earning this single a 2-star rating; It is a chill-out version with is still in ballad form but with more ambient flair. The feel is still intact to an extent but it can not match the original in conveying the heart-wrenching lyrics' song of grief over losing someone over foolishness. Perhaps the most tear-jerking part of this song is the bridge and chorus but in the chill-out version that quality is diminshed.

Perhaps a "double A-side" cd single with the original, the chill-out remix

and the remixes for "Ain't No Other Man" would have been a better deal thus giving us the remixes to a highly energetic song with "remix" written all over it."
Still WOW!

"I love this song & Christina has just an incredible voice. I was disappointed that the original radio version was not on this single (ALL remixes), but you still get so much range from Christina that you have to love it anyway. This is right up there with "Beautiful" & Christina will continue to shine. Peace & love. Tonya S."
