BEST GOTHIC ROCK GROUP EVER!
thefactoryworker | Brisbane, Australia | 12/04/1999
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Yes, that's right. No gothic rock band is better than these guys. This is not their best album but it does contain some great tracks especially, 'Crawl' and 'Beginning of the End'. This music is fast and loud gothic rock with vocals more similar to the punkish style of Robert Smith or John Lydon than to the deep, morose voice of singers like Ian Curtis. The piercing guitar riffs are awesome and combined with the synthetic orchestral background this band really makes for great listening. Unfortuneatly these guys have split up after playing for seven years of this decade. They follow the traditional style of gothic rock and do it better than anyone else has. A contemporary band that they are similar to is Rosetta Stone and the two have played together throughout England in recent years. Also similar to now defunkt French group Corpus Delicti. COS seem to have been inspired by what is in my opinion one of the best albums ever (along with Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division), Pornography by the Cure. The music is similar but COS are a bit faster and not as gothic sounding as Pornography."
BUY THE ALBUM "TOURNIQUETS OF LOVE'S DESIRES"
thefactoryworker | Brisbane, Australia | 11/27/1999
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This is surely the best gothic rock band ever but, although this album is good, for the a similar price you could buy their earlier album "Tourniquets of Love's Desires" or the ep "Overland" which are far superior to this release. This has some good songs but most of these tracks can be found on the other releases along with their best songs: Tortured by a Sense of Humour, Desperate Miranda, Celebration, Sidelined, Hollow and more."
