Unlike most Christmas jazz albums, this works wonderfully from both standpoints. This is truly soulful jazz playing, not "Chet lite". And as holiday tunes the renditions are only improved by the right degree of improvisation. Cool jazz for sure, but with emotion so appropriate to Christmas music. " |
