"Until recently, I had never heard of Charlemaine until I watched the movie "Blackwoods" and heard her song "Out In the Rain". I sat through the entire credits to find out who she was, and then went straight to my computer to find out more about her and where I could purchase her cd. Because it was late, I found her website with music clips of all her songs and listened to each and every one of them, then rushed out the next day to buy the cd, only to find out no stores in our area carried it, so I ordered it online. Each and every song on this cd is absolutely beautiful; no sweet candy-pop,rap or hip-hop. To try and describe her voice would be an injustice, but I can only say that she has the smokey edgieness similar to Macy Gray and Tina Turner, yet with a somewhat softer quality, and combined with her lyrics, it goes straight to your very core. Anyone - male or female - who listens to this cd will find something in it about themselves, whether it's from the past, present or even the future, and feel stronger about where life is taking them. The lyrics are intense and real; making you realize those supposed past mistakes and bridges burnt were only life's learning experiences and not excess baggage to carry with you for a lifetime. Charlemaine gives nothing less than absolute perfection. I only hope that we will be hearing more from this beautiful and extremely talented artist in the near future."
