Synopsis

Album Description
Weaponizing bass lines, shifting the timing of energies, moving backwords heading toward nonsense. The low end materializes itself in spirals while the attraction of grooves empties the bowels of ecstasy. The disease of dynamics opposed to walls of sounds. A modern temple to harmony travelers. Ranging from dub to funk, from free jazz to ambient, Charged has been travelling across borders, manipulating perception and physical boundaries. Led by acclaimed Italian composer/producer Eraldo Bernocchi (Sigillum S, Mick Harris, Francesca Lago, Jungle Brothers), Charged Live captures performances in Japan, Germany, and Holland with an ensemble consisting of bassist Bill Laswell (Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders, Tony Williams, Peter Gabriel), electric trumpet player Toshinori Kondo (DJ Krush, United Future Organization, William Parker), drummer Hamid Drake (Peter Brotzmann, Ken Vandermark), percussionist Aiyb Dieng (Sly Dunbar, Herbie Hancock, Bootsy Collins), and turntablist DJ Disk (Rock Steady Crew, Primus).

CD Reviews

Better than the sum

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is an excellent live piece from eraldo bernocchi and bill laswell, with all the people listed above. This has way more of a jamming dub feel to it than the studio cut. The recording is really nice but not as nice as the tabla beat science live piece but better than the nicky scopelitis ecstacis live. The last song also has gnawa musicians of morroco. This is the best guitar ive ever heard from bernocchi. Dj disk who i dont really appriciate even though hese disked for the best in the world is ok on this release except for one song hese really got in. The first and second songs are some of the best ive ever heard from laswell. Gotta get enjoy dubbing/ if you like this one ecstacis live is almost the samr band except nicky and raul bjorkheimer on guitar, they cover mantra, and black lotus."
