What a voice! Smoky and lean and feral, with a quality like coarse-ground coffee over a campfire.

Brothers Lorenzo, Paco, and Juan Antonio Salazar are part of a Spanish Gypsy family that also includes flamenco singer Porrina de Badajoz (their uncle) and members of the hit female Latin pop duo Azucar Moreno (their cousins), according to AllMusic, and they've invited in Jose Miguel and Antonio Carmona (both of Ketama fame) and guitarist Gerardo Nunez as well. While this isn't a recording for flamenco purists, that strong coffee quality goes very well with the slinky soft cream that winds through this recording: elements of Latin pop and salsa give this record a contemporary feel. But ohhhh that voice. That voice. AllMusic says "Highly recommended". Try it.

Casta is no gipsy at all....

"I have listened to many guitarist, but casta I expected more from u, but u let me down. This album was your first and last album in my opinion. Tedious rhytm and boring voices. Guitar palying is way off , and doesnot accompany the singers. If you really want a nice spanish guitar cds, check my reviews. Casta's cd will give u a big disappointment if u buy. Casta tries to join guitar with spanish mood and latin percussion, but he fails. I have nothing against casta, he may be a good person as his label comapny alula records says, but his music is very weak, and gipsies won't like this album at all. Plz, donot call your self gipsy. The album has some tracks that you will hate it, lake of talent and passion. Casta feels like gipsy, but real gipsy's music comes from heart and passions. Casta has to improve his style and music. Work hard Casta, you can do it."

"This is a great cd that once you get the hang of it, you'll never want to stop hearing it. the songs are too short sometimes though, and the recording sound of songs 10 through 13 is not very good. it's got great instrumentation and nice sounding guitars. authentic gypsy singing and feel."
