CD Reviews

Great Performance/Bootleg Audio Quality
R. Wagner | Worthington, Ohio United States | 09/05/2007
(2 out of 5 stars)

"This is a great CD for the Beefheart completists in the crowd. The performances are excellent and the Captain and his band are in great form. This was 1972 and this recording sounds like it was taken from an audience recording. If you are use to listening to audience bootlegs from that era then you know what to expect. Very muddy bass and not much detail on the drums and a thin midrange for the vocals, harp and quitars. If bootleg audio is unknown to you then I would definitely advise you to pass on this one. There might be a reason why this item doesn't offer any audio previews of it's tracks. If you love the Captain you will like this. If you are a casual fan, pass on this."
