"This is not MM. Massenet's best -- maybe his worst? Some pleasant music and several good singers --the males-- which brings me to MMe. Montserrat "Cleopatre" Caballe -- she's long past her DECLINE - more like her vocal death bed -- BAD, BAD, BAD expecially to those of us who heard her in the vocal prime --WONDERFUL & MAGNIFICANT!!!! But, helas, now HORRID!!!! She sounds like Cleopatre's great grand mother -- Miss Marti -her daughter- not much better. If you want to hear a good recording - lots of luck- I have no suggestions. If you listen carefully to one or two parts you can hear a bit of Manon -- I followed the score -suprisingly complete recording- and I'm still wondering what language MMe. Caballe is singing in -- Recommended for those who just want a less expensive CD of this long forgotten opera!"
