CD Reviews

Long Road worth the journey
George Andrus | San Diego, CA USA | 03/27/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"There's a lot of young wanna be blues artists on the scene now, and if you're one and reading this review, take some advice...get this CD now to see how it should be done. I'm sure Burton Gaar has been payin' his dues to play the Blues for a long time. What a great set of vocal chops he's got. The real bonus here is, not only can he sing his ..... off, but the man writes some tasty, intellegent & soulful lyrics. You put together his voice, his lyrics, backed up by some fantastic Memphis musicians and you got a great lesson in how to sing & play the blues.I could make comparisons to other great blues singers, but why? Burton sets a standard that others should shoot for. Every once in a while I get lucky and come across a real gem...Burton Gaar is a polished, smooth diamond and I hope that he's going to be around for many years to come writing & singing the blues"
One disc you won't want to miss
Sean D. Moore | Canon City, Colorado USA | 11/23/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have been a blues music fan for many years, and I have a large collection of albums fom Blind Lemon Jefferson to Stevie Ray Vaughan. Burton Gaars' disc, Mighty Long Road ranks high on my rotation. Gaar tears out a mean guitar riff that will make the hair on your neck stand straight up on "Somebody Broke My Lock" then turns around and tears your heart out with his soul and whiskey tinged voice on "Willingly". Gaar sings and plays with depth and feeling, very rare indeed. The band is tight, the music is hot, and this disc should be in your player right now."
Finally shivers up the back !
Jack L. Armstrong | Westfield, WI United States | 07/28/2000

"I purchase at least 75 cds a year and most of them Blues but I never seem to find the right one that knocks you across the room and sends those great shivers up your back. Burton and a group of muscians whose talents would have made an incredible instrumental album combine to make a once in Blues Moon jewel. This has got to be the closest thing to Blues heaven that is out there, thanks for the shivers !"
