At a time when some feel zydeco as a genre is in a creative doldrums, Tomorrow Recordings is creating and promoting zydeco music that remains true to its roots while sounding as approachable and compelling as anything in contemporary music. Tomorrow Recordings was launched in 1998 by Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural, Jr. and long time manager/co-producer Ted Fox. The label?s results so far are highlighted in the Feb. 5, 2002 release of "Buckwheat Zydeco & Co., Tomorrow?s Zydeco," which hits the streets just as Louisiana?s Mardi Gras parades are gearing up for Fat Tuesday. The critics have formed an enthusiastic second line behind the label?s efforts. This specially-priced compilation presents over an hour of some of the coolest sounds ever to come out of Creole Country with favorite album cuts from Buckwheat Zydeco, Sean Ardoin & ZydeKool and Lil? Brian & The Zydeco Travelers ? and as a bonus ? a 13+ minute never-before-released live version of Buck?s show-stopping take on "Hey Joe." The compilation kicks off with two tracks from Tomorrow?s initial project ? a fresh release of Buckwheat Zydeco?s album "Trouble," originally released by Mesa/Atlantic in 1997. Next up are four selections from what is arguably the best-reviewed zydeco album in years: Sean Ardoin & ZydeKool?s "Pullin?," the latest release on Tomorrow Recordings. Keeping in the solidly funky groove laid down by Sean Ardoin are three cuts from Lil? Brian and The Zydeco Travelers? "Funky Nation," released in February 2000.Tomorrow?s fearless leader takes this collection home ? live ? with two blistering big-band zydeco performances. Buckwheat Zydeco's "Down Home Live!" is represented here by the live version of "Trouble." And, for this compilation?s special grand finale: from the El Sid O?s Thanksgiving session, a blistering jam on the tune that has become Buck?s de rigueur finale, "Hey Joe."
