CD Reviews

One of Bucketheads Best Side Projects

"Thanatopsis, which actually began recording tracks for an album that would later be completely scrapped Colma II. TDRS Recording studios(Travis Dickerson, who also appears heavily on the CD and had everything to do with the production of it)was playing the host and after Myopia they decided that the chemistry was to good to let go. So they began the arduous journey of getting Buckethead into the studio to record with them and after nearly two years Thanatopsis was released at TDRSmusic.com Now nearly two years after that Thanatopsis has released another album. Though still not available through Amazon.com go on over to TDRSmusic.com and grab a copy, they destribute a lot of Buckethead's harder to find stuff as Bucket and Travis are fairly close. Thanatopsis is merely three performers who take a mellow vibe and allow Buckethead to augment the whole bar with his super sonic guitar abilities, while Ramy Antoun pounds away on drums. The whole while Travis is setting the mood for the album with dark synthesizers and heavily spiking samples. Thanatopsis is a trip to the darker more moody rock side of Buckethead and I recommend that anyone who liked Somewhere Over the Slaughterhouse, Colma, or Monsters and Robots or even Funnel Weaver which I believe was also done at TDRS Studios, I know its available from them and that Travis Remastered it so I assume it was done there. A wonderful band comprised of wonderful people, check out there other CD, Axiology at http://www.tdrsmusic.com/axiologypage.html"
