CD Reviews

Timeless R&B of the highest order E.V.E.R.!

"How can it be that a great singer - what do I say - the amazing Brigette McWilliams, didn't get the success she deserved?

Too Much Woman is a timeless piece of art everybody who likes R&B should have at home. And put it on repeat!

What a voice!!! Her grooves sometimes remind of Chaka Khan while she still was with Rufus and the song Too Much Woman could be seen as a tribute to Chaka's I'm Every Woman.

But Brigette is not a copycat. Far from it. Her voice easily creates the warmest feelings on the album's beautiful ballads (my favorite: Through It All).

When she's on fire like with the two versions of Fire or on Too Much Woman, she'll turn you on like very few ever managed before.

Morning, my favorite on this gem of an album, is a beautiful mid tempo song greeting the new day with your love, the sunshine, the rain, whatever. It makes you feel so good you want to reach out and hand over the feeling to the poor souls who haven't yet heard of Brigette.

Musicians? Cream of the crop: Tony Maiden, Bobby Watson, Larry Dunn, Billy Preston, Al McKay, Paulinhio De Costa and many more.

The production obviously let them a free hand. But what else to do with such pros?! The outcome is amazing. A finesse and spirit which sadly nowadays has become quite hard to find.

Join me and spread it around: Brigette, Queen of Soul (also check out her latest!!!)

You still get it new for a reasonable price through zshops at amazon.com or amazon.de"

"Is named starlight lounge. It was released in europe not over here. You have to search under Brigette not Briggette Mcwilliams. Different vibe but similar to this with live instruments and drums, think brazlian flavored but she handles this very effectively. Thanks to the russians I was able to get this. hint."
A perfect record.

"Too Much Woman, is one of those discs you lend a friend and never get back. When this disc was recommended by an associate with similar tastes I wasn't expecting to fall in love. The music is pure contemporary soul. Put it in your collection if you love Anita Baker's Rapture, Brian McKnight's self titled debut, and Corinne Bailey Rae's debut. All, nearly perfect from start to finish."
