"I first heard the song "Cronica de un viejo amor" (Chronicle of an old love) about 11 years ago during a trip to Latin America. I was immediately swept away by the rhythm, lyrics, and story-line. Braulio is singing the song to a woman, explaining that he loved her since they first met as children, and then recounts the story of how he, as a teenager, tried to confess to her that he loved her, and in another stanza he explains that 20 years have passed and he still waits for her...That he knows that her marriage to another man was a disaster and that he knows that she has children now...And that he loves her and has finally mustered enough courage to tell her how he feels in this song...The lyrics and story are amazing...Gotta listen to it, cause you'll love it. This song will make you cry, especially the first time you hear it...But guess what, once you hear it, you will put it on again and again, just to cry again. Another good song is "Nuestro viejo 600."Chronicle Of An Old LoveI think I've always loved you,
Since that rainy day you
Moved to the neighborhoodYou had braces
Delicious freckles
And pony tailsIn school I was always your protector
I knew of no other way to exclaim my love
Because I loved you I loved you
With infantile devotionAnd it was at your Sweet 15 party
That my dream shattered
Suddenly into a thousand piecesI saw you dance all night
in your date's arms
So happy in his armsI had planned to speak to you of my feelings that night
But your date, my rival, beat me to the point
And your happiness, it hurt me so much
That's the moment I became a loserIt was that same fellow
Who years later
To my great sorrow
Married youI saw you at the altar
Randiant and happy
Just the way I thought
It would be with me...with meAnd now our old friends tell me
That you have lived through many sorrows
That your marriage was a disasterAnd that you soothe your wounds
By giving yourself completely to your children
With your heart torn into piecesAs for me, Ive continued being faithful
To that love that I never confessed to you
Because I still love you...I still love you
Like the first timeWhen you receive this letter
You might not remember me anymore
20 years have passedBut if you look at the photo-album
Of your Sweet 15 party
You will know I'm not lyingI'm the skinny guy that looks at you with passion
In every picture of you that nightAnd the one that waits for you
For as long as you want
With the most faithful devotionThis is the sincere Chronicle
Of an old and silent love"
