"After about a dozen unofficial bootlegs of live Brand X, ranging in quality from bad to awful, at last the band has authorized the release of some BBC tapes from 1976. Sound quality is quite good and the material, mostly from their 2nd album, is well performed, live & without audience noise. For fans of the band this is a welcome release."

"There are just two reasons to buy this album; they are The Ancient Mysteries and Kugelblitz. Even a hardened fan of early Brand X will probably take 20 listens to get into these tracks; but what seems like endless noodling to end all endless noodling will turn into something to love forever. These tracks roll on and on, with an extraordinary collage of sounds where no player really leads and yet they all seem to. It has tremendous warmth and yet real edge. A total contradiction, this is real 25 year old malt. This is not for beginners."
