CD Reviews

Import is the true Essential Dylan!
Craig Mitchell | staten island, ny United States | 04/02/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I own both the american and this import version and this collection is far superior with excellent liner notes and pictures-the tracklisting and sequencing are great as well. While the US 2 cds are about 2 hrs total in running time-Each disc here is around 76 minutes...and the additional tracks are fantastic-Please Crawl Out Your Window is a gem- a single in btw Highway 61 and Blonde on Blonde sessions with The Band, THIS TRACK IS worth the price alone as it cant be found outside the Biograph box set. It is simply prime Dylan at the peak of his powers. I Want You was a top 10 hit even in the states, so it baffles me why it isnt on the american version...while on the 2nd disc-you get prime cuts from his often overlooked Street Legal, some gems from the 80's that you wouldnt like own unless you have all of his albums and Dignity. While It is impossible to get the essential Dylan done in less than at least 4 to 6 cds for a proper overview(one could use more from his early works and a few more from highway 61, john wesley harding, blood on the tracks, desire and time out of mind)-as a primer this is truly essential if one wants to get introduced to the 20th century's answer to Shakespeare or Wordsworth."
