CD Reviews

Mellow Bing at his best
Malcolm Macfarlane | Cheshire, UK | 06/13/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"An imaginative selection from Universal in the UK which has been released on their Spectrum label. One track new to CD - "Tenderfoot" - but several others which have not often been sold in digital form. "Tenderfoot" was written by Bing, Bob Bowen and Perry Botkin and originally issued using the pseudonym of Bill Brill for Bing. This issue shows the writers to be "Crosby / Botkin". Quality of the CD overall is excellent and it shows off the deep tones and easy delivery of the Crosby voice of the time to its best effect. Short sleeve notes by the compilers (Colin Morgan, Ossie Dales and Dave McAleer) explain that these are tracks which were popular in the early 1950s rather than songs which were recorded then. A very nice issue and Universal are to be complimented on this.Malcolm Macfarlane - BING magazine"
