CD Reviews

I hope they post this review.

"Reviewed this twice, still don't see it up. Shame too, cause people should know how good this disc is. Although more of a raw record than his last three releases, this one should not be missed. Same Shaver sound, country roots rock, and one of the best damned songwriters to ever grace us."

"This is a re-issue of an album first released in 1987. Well, bless the folks who thought to get this one back on the shelves!

This album, along with "Victory" and "Tramp on Your Street", is one of my favorites among those of the legendary Billy Joe Shaver, the "father of outlaw country music" and his son, the late Eddy Shaver. It's a full- bore treatment of some of Shaver's finest songs, including "Sweet Mama" (a hit for the Allmans), "Street Walkin' Woman", and "The Devil Made Me Do It the First Time (The Second Time I Done It on My Own)". But there's also "Hill Country Blues", as sweet a love song as you will ever hear. There is not a clunker on this disc.

Billy sings in "White Man Watermelon", a great blues riff, "I sold some songs in Macon, sold some in L.A., too. I sold some songs in Nashville, sold some in Austin, too. Unless I miss my guess, folks, I'm sellin' one to you."

I hope to tell you! Go ahead and buy this; if you really like outlaw country, Billy Joe Shaver, or Americana Roots, you won't be sorry."
