CD Reviews

Good newcomers

"I saw this group at a church in Illinois recently and was expecting just another college band that is mediocre. Boy was I wrong! Better Days Ahead is an outstanding rock group with just the right mix of awesome lyrics, great singing and wonderful musicianship. Their new CD is highly recommended. You will not be disappointed with your purchase. This is just another great group to come out of Greenville College."
An infectious, well-performed pop/rock set.

"Comparisons to Jars of Clay seem inevitable for the lads of BDA, who met as freshmen at Greenville College, home of the Jars collective. And, truth be told, acoustically-based tracks like "Endless" and "Into Our Midst" fall into the same adult alternative pop/rock category that seems to fit the JoC crew.

Elsewhere, though, the group mixes things up a bit. "Answer Me" mirrors the guitar-driven modern rock of the Goo Goo Dolls and 3 Doors Down. The equally notable "Endless" walks a more teen-pop-friendly line. "Love is Here" sounds like a slightly harder-edged Rembrandts. And "Let Love Come Down" shows what Lenny Kravitz and PFR would sound like covering Journey's "Stone in Love."

Some of the songs are a tad listless. And the album does tend to blend in among ever-widening sea of like-sounding pop/rock purveyors. But, even at its most imitative, the debut record is still nearly always ingratiatingly catchy. And one can hear, underneath it all, the sound of a band on the verge of forging a truly distinctive sound. As the work of a group of early twenty-somethings taking their opening bow into the Christian pop arena, Better Days Ahead acquits its creators quite nicely."

"These guys met at college and formed one of the tightest Christian rock units to come along in a while. The songs, the vocals, the guitars, the beat are awesome. A must have for any CCM collection. Don't miss them on tour!"
