CD Reviews

Warm and intimate

"I recently bought about 13 Barry Harris CD's or album downloads. Let me raise my hand in a quick vote for this one as one of the best, it's really warm and full of heart. I think this was recorded about 1996.

This very sweet, groovy trio gig is quite different from a similarly titled CD recorded in 2002, titled 'Live From New York'. That one, a quintet gig, is the only blah recording I've heard of Dr. Harris. But this one, highly recommended.

Also, I've never heard a live CD with almost no applause. The applause was either edited out, or possibly was suppressed on purpose. But if overly LOUD, sudden applause on live albums puts unwanted spikes in your listening experience, you won't have any problems with it on this recording!
