Bad Company's "Debut" Has Just Gotten Even Better!

"Back in the old days when albums just a little over 30 minutes long would still sell, Bad Company made an album that's become a classic rock staple and beloved by millions around the world. Now we get a very well designed mini lp replica sleeve version which not only very faithfully recreates the original lp in great detail but also has been very well remastered for an excellent sounding cd making it truly worthwhile to upgrade to this version and you'll want to chuck the other versions you have into the nearest bin. The sound quality is like night and day when I compared this to my previous unremastered cd which I have since sold to a used cd store. You also get all the lyrics in both English and Japanese in a 12-page booklet.

Although this album represents a debut for Bad Company the band name but it really isn't a debut for the band members which really are the remnants of Free and so this album sounds like an extension of that band but is still better quality overall than say "Fire and Water" but you could be forgiven if you mistook this band for Free. That aside, the songs here are good for the most part. "Ready For Love" is the strongest and most interesting track musically while I've read someone once who wrote that if you gave a room full of monkeys enough time, they'd compose "Can't Get Enough" but I guess that's the beauty of the track in that it's so damn simple but effective.

Overall, I just can't help but compare it with the other great rock bands around at that time and I can think of a quite a few with much stronger albums than this; "Not Fragile" by BTO comes quickly to mind and even Heart's "Little Queen" has got more interesting musical ideas but I guess timing is everything and the cool album cover helps..."

"Bad Company *****

Bad Company was the first band signed to the Swan Song label ran and owned by the legendary Led Zeppelin. Bad Company was really in all reality the only really good band on the label other then Led Zeppelin as they signed themselves to the label later in their career.Bad Company was something of a supergroup in their day if you want to call it that, Paul Rogers from Free, and Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke from King Crimson, and Boz Burrell was from another band. This is the bands self titled and first album, as well as their best, after this is was honestly down hill. Bad Company is full of slow grooves and sexy vocals and lyrics creating and launching one of the biggest areana rock bands of all time. Injected with loads of Bluesy guitar leads and soulful vocals, being released in 1974 this album was destinend to become a classic.

The album opens with what may be the bands biggest hit and signature song, 'Cant Get Enough' a song that when released was a massive success and even to this day still gets major rotation time on the classic rock and hard rock radio stations, that is because the song is truly a classic. 'Rock Steady' is another classic Bad Company song. This song also became a radio hit and staple for the band, lots of bluesy guitar licks make this one of the best songs on the album. 'Ready For Love' is one of the best songs Bad Company ever recorded. Its slower and very sexy. Clocking in at exactly five minutes the song is the perfect length. The powerful vocals from Rogers are some of his career best. The song can also be haunting and at times sad deppending on your current state of love. And once again this song too was and still is a massive radio success. 'Dont Let Me Down' slows things down a bit and brings in the piano for a little bit more of a soul feel. Now this is nothing new, Bad Company is known for having lots and lots of soul, this song just takes it to a whole 'nother level. This is one of the better songs on the album, very beautiful. The bands title track and the albums title track 'Bad Company' is one of if not the bands best song. It is very dark and very errie. It is a great song and when you listen to it, its lyrics depict a westen story meets The Outsiders. This was another big hit for the band. 'The Way I Choose' is another slower song, it doesnt really stand out. 'Movin On' was yet another great and big hit song for Bad Company. Its a great hard rocker and one of the best on the album. 'Seagull' closes the album on a soft note. The song is acoustic and ends the album on a really nice note.

Bad Company hit the nail right on the head with their debut album. This is one of biggest selling and all around best debut albums from a rock n' roll band ever. This is a must have for all fans of classic rock and Paul Rogers as this is his best effort."
