Above Average Canadian Dance Project

"This 1979 album is a stronger one than its predecessor, "Bombers." Unlike that first project (which interestingly employed the talents of Canadian break-outs Gino Soccio and Lime's Denis LaPage), this sequel steps away from danceable rock intrumentals and shows mastery of dance music. The scratchy, rhythm guitar approach of Chic is present here. There are some interesting disco songs. The album tracks "Pistolero" and especially "Shake" are tremendous on the dance floor. The 12" versions of "Everybody Get Dancin'" and "Let's Dance" are improvements on the album originals. Really, only "Disco Galaxy" is poor, as it presents bland female vocals and embarrassing outer space imagery. I was happy to have recently stumbled onto this group's previously unknown (to me) albums, originally available on the small but seminal Westend Records label, and glad they are available on CD format."
