Simple machines creating boring music
Cameron Allrich | Mass | 12/07/1999
(2 out of 5 stars)

"I'm sorry, I feel that in the electronica scene there are alot of producers who *think* they know how to write music, but really don't. They belive all you need to know is how to push buttons on a machine and just keep pushing different buttons until you stumble onto something cool... This album the best example of this that I can find.My first problem with this disc is that the samples and sounds are very limited and over used, They are not trying anything new neither are they pushing the boundaries of what they can do, unlike Autechure, Moby, Roni Size, and Death in Veagas. This samples & sounds have allready been used by Underworld, Orbital, 808 State and Guy Called Gerald back in the late 80's early 90's.Second of all, they don't know how to write a good catchy hook synth line. They dabble on the edge of coming up with something good, but they manage to blow it by lack of imagination and music ability, if you can't read music then you can't write a song in any genre or style. My advice to the Atomic Babies: learn to read music and learn how to (at least) play the piano. If you are going to buy anything let me suggest Underworld's "dubnobasswithmyheadman", Orbital's "Orbital 2" or "Insides", 808 State's "EX:EL" or Leftfield's "Leftism"ÿ"
Yeah.......s'ok. "Smiles" on digital empire CD is better

"yeah, I'll have to agree with Bart. the only reason i got this album was beacause on the Digital Empire album i fell instantly in love with "Smiles" unfortuneatly no track on Breulken Heightz comes close to Smiles, though the tracks do grow on you. I, as well, would recommend the same tracks Bart suggested. Sub Scapes is Good Techno. By the way Joey Jupiter is one of the two Djs that makes up AB. you may want to check his single stuff out too. in concluson you may just want to get this only if you are a diehard atomic babies fan or if you just love techno in general."
A Fairly Good CD

(4 out of 5 stars)

"The first couple times I listened to this I couldn't stand it but the 3rd time it really clicked and I have to say this is a pretty good CD. It's got some funky 6-minute tracks that make for a good listen. My picks are tracks 3, 5, 6, 9, and 11... 1 & 2 are okay too."
