CD Reviews

For the trance enthusiast (ONLY!)

"First of all, I'm not slamming this album just because I don't like trance and I want to waste my time. On the contrary, I used to be quite into trance and Astralasia is about as "trancy" as you can get without getting really cheesy.I bought this album a number of years ago after hearing "To a Better Place" at club I used to go to, and thinking it was quite good. But after about a week I came to the conclusion it was a waste of my money. It's not technically great and while the sound/mood starts out promising it doesn't really go anywhere. Songs like "Sully's Trip" begin something interesting, but never really evolve into anything memorable.DON'T be fooled, this is trance, so if your looking for Drum and Bass or Techno this album isn't for you. However, if you like trance and want to give Astralasia a shot, try "Seven Pointed Star" first, it's a lot better stylistically and doesn't fall into the same monotonous trap that "Space Between" does. Then, and only then, buy this album.-(3/10)"
Beautiful mix of Trance & D&B

"But this album is excellent. The first two songs are acid-trance grinders with subdued breakbeats floating through the background. These two songs are my favorite on the whole CD. They remind me a lot of stuff by old Rising High bands like The Hypnotist and Friends, Lovers, & Family. The rest of the CD is excellent blissed-out trance. Uplifting keyboards and little 303 bubbles mix with a steady beat. Simply beautiful.."
