Synopsis

Album Description

Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951), creator of the "twelve-tone" musical system, wrote just twelve choral works beginning with the still-tonal Friede auf Erden ("Peace on Earth"). The best are gathered on this unique and much-needed CD. The SÃ¼dfunk-Chor Stuttgart, founded in 1946, emphasizes the choral music of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Rupert Huber was born in Austria in 1953. He obtained his education as a conductor and composer at the Mozarteum Salzburg. He worked as an assistant to Leopold Hager and later on with Herbert von Karajan.
