CD Reviews

This is totally different...But it's OK!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is the Japanese Edition, Toy's Factory 2000. Songs:1.AWAKENING(intro),2.THE BROKEN SPELL,3.BLIND FURY,4.WORLDS APART,5.CRY OF FATE,6.ILLUSIONS TALE,7.MOONGATE CLIMBER(instrumental),8.EMBRACE THE MISTERY,9.SLEEP OF INNOCENCE,10.GRAIN OF SAND. This album is different from their debut "Crossing the Rubicon". The guitar and bass sound more like Ingwie Malmsteen's albums, making the epic and classic melodies more obvious than in "Crossing...". And you have to add the clean vocals...So, don`t expect fast and death metal riffs and vocals. You have classic vocals(with Dio & Ozzy influences) and classic riffs and changes of rhythms. If you've listened to Malmsteen's last albums you'll get the idea. You have the ballad "Grain of sand". I know, it's strange to listen Chris Amott playing a ballad, but he shows he is much more versatile than we think. Anyway, it's not the best I've heard, but it's a cool classic metal and rock 'n roll album. Great songs, solos and sound. Give it a try!"
