"6 great standards with original melodies then 6 new melodies over the harmonic progression of the same songs. Very interesting and entertaining. This has been in the CD player for the last 10 days even though there are about 15 other new CD's vying for my attention. I have been enjoying the CD for it's beautiful and creative harmonies and for the new compositions over the great standards that are both intellectually and emotionally stimulating. I love the irresistible tone of Billy Drewe's soprano and tenor sax against the the beautiful colors of the trio - it all fits. As a keen amateur jazz pianist, I relish the opportunity to compare his arrangments of the original songs to the "contrafact" recorded over it (per Bird and Diz). The solos are virtuosic, swinging and completely musical. I know I will be buying Please Seekers, which is mentioned in the liner notes and a lot more Laverne"
