Synopsis

Album Description
'Language of the Soul' marks the return of the glorious Anael sound, hailed by critics across North America as being stunningly unique yet comfortably familiar, and is the Canadian female vocalist's 3rd album of original prose and songs. After 'Light of Refinement' (5 months in NAV's Top 35) and her sophomore release 'Unconditional' (now licensed in six countries), 'LotS' showcases Anael's inspired vision in no less than five different languages, including Hebrew, Italian, Latin, English and her maternal tongue, French. Throughout, Anael's pristine and pure singing tone anchors a sweeping, majestic sonic landscape, at once both soothing and uplifting, while painting an intimate, revealing portrait of humanity's triumphant and resilient spirit. As her voice drifts seemingly effortlessly through past, present and future, she unravels her tales, an ancient Hebrew prayer, an Italian aria, each sound and breath becoming one with the source, one within the listener.  By album's close, Anael has convincingly unveiled the timeless mystery, that which in the end needs no words: the universal language, the language - of the soul.

Another Superb Anael CD

"Well, boy was I surprised when I went to the CD shop and foundAnael had another CD out... ... But I wasn't surprised that this CD was almost as good as her other two. "Come Raggio di Soleil" is a peaceful introduction to the disc with angelic harp and string plucking. "Lingering Stratus" sounds like the title, dark and mysterious but strangely comforting. With Anael's angelic vocals soaring over the track it becomes truly magickal. "Who Made Thee Flesh" is an emotional waltz tune which evokes feeling somewhere deep within me. "The Tower Of Babel" is a mysterious song that brings to mind images of wading through fog on a cool, middle eastern night. "Chir Hashirim" brings ancient Hebrew influences into the fold. I don't know if Anael is Jewish, but the combination of ancient Hebrew with angelic new age vocals certainly works here. "Hymne a la Paix" is simplistically arranged at first but builds into a sweetly, richly arranged song. Chord changes from major to minor further accent the majestic quality. "Part Of Our Essence" relaxes with the bubbly sounds of a mountain stream and simple piano chords. "In The Key Of Wisdom" is a guitar-based song which I feel would not be too out of place on a movie soundtrack. "A Kind Of Light" is a hopeful sounding piece, floating along on Anael's vocals. "Crastina Die" has an ominous sounding beginning, and vocals in latin help the atmosphere, but overall it becomes more uplifting and is such a beautiful song. So now I sit here, waiting for her next CD to come out, and I guarantee it will be worth the wait."
